The Mission Hills Drive:
Northeast
Phuket on Phang Nga Bay
You
can't beat the views of Phang Nga Bay from the area
around the Mission Hills golf course and the growing
residential area on northeastern Phuket.
Turn east off of the main highway (402) just 600 meters
south of the road to Phuket International Airport. If
you want to see more of the golf course itself, just ask
the public relations people at the Club House, they'll
be happy to give you a ride in club car - all around the
course. They enjoy, you will too.
Begin this drive from
Thepkasatri Road, highway 402, the main road up and down
the middle of Phuket and connecting Phuket to the
mainland. Just south of the airport road on 402 - turn
east onto highway 4027. Check the map below and turn
left to Baan Laem Srai. Stay on that side road for
beautiful views of the sea once you get past the Laem
Srai Resort. You also, at the end of the loop come out
right at the Mission Hills Golf course - ready for the
Northeast Island
Drive!

If
you look at the exact center of this map - the center of
B2 - you will see the marker for highway 4027. The
small peninsula just to the northwest of that marker -
the top center of B2 - is this drive (Mission Hills) and
the larger peninsula to the northeast of that is the
North East Phuket Drive - top left of C2. You
can't miss them now!

The Mission Hills drive, starting from
the main highway, won't take more than a hour - unless
you, like many of us, start wandering the side side
roads. Don't worry about getting lost, Phuket is a
smallish island and every road comes out somewhere.
Due to some of the extraordinary
views, this area is quickly taking off with villa
estates and even a few resorts. See while it is
still quite native. It's worth the drive.
