Thai Muang Drive: Just South of Thai Muang

This is an easy drive that will take an hour at most once you start at the main intersection in Thai Muang - about 25 minutes north of Phuket and about the same time and distance from Khao Lak.

When are in the area swing by and take a look at Thai Muang Beach [photo left].

From the main interestion, the beach is north and this drive - the Thai Muang Loop is east - see the chart below. The beach area has many fine local restaurants [see bottom of page].

Note: the map of the main intersection in Thai Muang [below] is a bit of an estimation and the exact compass directions are NOT exact, but when you come to this intersection you will know what to do - there are signs in English specifically to the Beach, Khao Lak and Phuket - depending on what direction you are heading.  The turn for this drive is the small street to the west.  The three other streets at the intersection are clearing main streets - the street you want is the smallest of the three.

For the Thai Muang Loop Drive:

 When arriving at the main intersection of Thai Muang FROM PHUKET (the only intersection with a blinking traffic light - or any traffic light at all), TURN LEFT down a small town road - noted as "West - To BoDan Beach" on the map above.  It is not main highway as the other three directions from the intersection are.

Follow that road for about seven kilometers and you will drive past a local Chinese temple, through a rural village area, shrimp farms [photo below] and quiet countryside. 

At about seven kilometers you will come to a T-Junction.  Turn right and you will go to BoDan Beach (see the BoDan Beach Drive) and if you turn left you will go back out to the main highway Route 4.  When you get to Highway Route 4 - turn left to get back to Thai Muang or right to head down to Phuket - and the Hot Springs Drive - also on this website.
