Top
Eight Best Things to Do:
while
visiting the Phuket and Phang Nga area
Phuket and Phang Nga's most exciting activities
Get out and enjoy the great weather
and beautiful water.
#1: Fly
over Phang Nga Bay with Destination Air
[photo

Okay, it's pricey, but getting to Phuket and
accommodation isn't cheap either and here is an
opportunity for dramatic views of the bay and the thrill of a
life time in a real seaplane. Check their website just
to fantasize a bit anyway:
Destination Air.
Cruise their
photo gallery
and you'll be booking a flight today.
#2: Cruise Phang Nga
Bay with Captain Mark
Here's
a chance to experience Phang Nga Bay right on the water
- for a lot less money and at a lot slower pace. This is
something you may enjoy even more than flying over it
all: here's a chance to get in the bay "up close and
personal".
With no more than ten passengers on board
the Captain lets you set the agenda and you'll have a
chance to snorkel a bit, kayak a hong, lunch on a
beach and generally just kick back and enjoy - that's
what a vacation is supposed to be all about. Captain
Mark has consistently excellent reviews on Trip Advisor
and other major travel forums. More about his sailing
adventures on our
Phuket
Sailing
page or over at his website:
Phuket Sailing Tours.
#3: Scuba and Snorkel
the Andaman Sea:
with
the author of Jamie's Blog, or with Phuket Richard and
Megumi. Phuket's notable scuba and snorkeling
people can add an underwater view of the area for your
pleasure and enjoyment: Check out our
Scuba Day
Trips page
and our
Scuba
Liveaboards
page. Or . . . go straight to the websites for
Sunrise Divers
(Jamie) or
Phuket Pro Dive
(Richard and Megumi).
#4:
Experience the "Hongs by Starlight" tour with
John Gray's Seacanoe
Well-reviewed
and constantly raved about, this dramatic guided
kayak-based tour of the hongs of Phang Nga Bay is
well worth your time! Naturalist John Gray is a Phuket
pioneer in this type of eco-tourism. Ignore the
slightly cheaper imitators and go with the original and
best. John Gray's water adventures do it right.
#5:
Explore Phi Phi Island, Krabi and the Bay

Book the ferry over to Phi Phi Island and spend a day
and night before heading back to Phuket (ferry schedules
make it difficult to do just a day trip). Home of much
of the scenery for the movie The Beach,
Phi Phi is a real tropical wonderland.
The
ferry is a great way to tour the bay on a budget.

#6: Take a
Drive:
Get out and see the "real" Phuket
and Phang Nga - away from the
tourist areas
Coconut, pineapple and rubber plantations, rural
villages, and stunning sea and bay views are all on
offer. You will be amazed at what you'll find. Soi
Bangla is interesting, but it isn't really Phuket or
Phang Nga - there is much more As
long as you are coming to the area, you might as well
see what is here. Check out
the Seven Scenic Drives on the website menu at the top
of the page.
Self drive or hire a car and driver for the day. Read
the
Car
Hire/Rent
page for information about driving in Phuket and Phang
Nga and how the Car Hire situation works here. This
two-meter statue of Ganessha is one of the surprises you
will find, but you'll have to go hunting for it
yourself.
#7.
Try a Round of Golf on some Great Courses
Award
winning golf courses abound in the area - several right
on the sea. From a Royal Thai Navy course, to the
two Blue Canyon courses, the new Red Mountain course,
International Club Mission Hills - and even the
being-built-right-now Thai Muang Beach Golf Club and
Marina - you'll not want for variety and challenge.
Check our
Golfing page for
more information.
#8: Don't forget the
Beach

The great weather and
beautiful beaches are why most people come to this
Phuket and Phang Nga. Don't forget to just kick back
and relax. And . . . sometime when you are out
exploring check out some of the undiscovered wonders on
our beaches pages - check the menu at the top of this
page.
